NBA players union fills final spot at renovated Midtown tower

The Durst Organization jumped through hoops to revitalize 1133 Sixth Ave. with $40 million in capital upgrades after the IRS moved out in 2014 and left the address 30 percent vacant. Now, a professional basketball union has come through at the buzzer to fill the 1.1 million-square-foot tower’s last available space.

Renderings were released last week of a 70-story tower set to stand behind the Clock Tower in Long Island City. The site at 29-37 41st Ave. was previously purchased by developers Kevin Maloney and Kamran Hakim in 2015 but ultimately decided to sell it to The Durst Organization.
